On January 9, 2008 in Puerto-Plata (Dominican Republic) President FIAS David Rudman and FIAS Special Representative Kiril Rapaport met with 1st Vice-President of Olympic Comittee of Dominican Republic Dr. Leonardo A.Monsanto.
It was agreed to found National Sambo Federation of Dominican Republic under the patronage of Dominican Republic Olympic Comittee. Sambists from Dominican Republic will participate in Pan-American Sambo Championships 2008 and in World Sambo Championships 2008.

On April 10, 2007 FIAS (represented by FIAS President David Rudman) and Cassidy & Associates, a company specializing in the government relations industry (represented by Evgeniy Hapeshis, Cassidy & Associates Partner Manager), signed a contract.
The framework contract suggests that Cassidy will assist FIAS in popularization of Sambo throughout the world, and also provide consulting services on the problem of including Sambo in the Olympics.

FIAS President David Rudman participated in the presentation of Russian Annual National Award "Golden Belt" on January 27, 2007.
The Award ceremony took place in Moscow, Russia at the State Kremlin Palace. The Award to the best Russian representatives of various Martial Arts was instituted by Russian Martial Arts League.
According to the Head of Russian Martial Arts League Sergey Kirienko, the "Golden Belt" Awards should be issued annually.
Among the 10 sportsmen, who received the Award, was 3 times World Combat Sambo Champion, 4 times Pride Fighting World Champion Fedor Emelianenko. He received the "Golden Belt" in the nomination "The most memorable victory of the year". The award was presented by the Chairman of Russian Duma Committee on sport, phisical training and youth Mr. V.A. Tretiak.
The main purpose of the National Award is popularization of different kinds of Martial Arts in Russia.
The Russian Martial Arts League was created on June 1st, 2005 at the Constituent Assembly of the leaders of Russian Martial Arts Federations. The League subsidiaries exist in 73 regions of Russia.

FIAS President David Rudman congratulated the President of Russian Stuntmen Association Aleksandr Inshakov with his 60th birthday on January 26, 2007. The Jubilee of the most well-know stuntman in Russia was celebrated in Fusion restaurant in the circle of 230 friends.
Russian actors Aleksandr Abdulov and Leonid Yarmolnik, musician Andrey Makarevich, Federation Councillor Ralif Safin, Russian President Advisor on the Cossacks problems Gennadiy Troshev, Boxing World Champion Nikolay Valuev, Assistant to the President of Russia Sergey Yastrzembskiy, State Duma deputes singer Aleksandr Rosenbaum and sportsmen Aleksandr Karelin and many others came to the Jubilee celebration.

In Geneva (Switzerland) the meeting between the leadership of FIAS and President of General Association of International Sport Federations (GAISF) Mr. Hein Verbruggen took place. At the meeting International Amateur Sambo Federation was represented by FIAS President David Rudman, Chief Executive Nikolai Lentz, member of Board of Advisors of Russian and European Sambo Federations Valeriy Sysoev.
During the meeting with GAISF President the prospects of further Sambo development in the world and its participation in international sport movement were discussed.
FIAS President David Rudman also told Mr. Hein Verbruggen about a successful presentation of Sambo as a national Russian sport, which was made on October 9 in Moscow for the President of International Olympic Committee (IOC) Mr. Jacques Rogge.

On September 28 David Rudman attended the 36th anniversary of world famous sambo school "Sambo 70". The birthday of the club is considered to be the day of the first training conducted by David Rudman on September 8, 1970.
More than 400 graduates of this famous school attended the celebration. Among them were well-known sportsmen - repeated World Champions: Aleksandr Michailin - 3 times World Judo Champion, Victor Astahov and Igor Kurennoy - 3 times World Sambo Champions and many many others. Many of "Sambo 70" graduates became serious businessmen, public and political figures of Russia. Graduates of this famous sambo school founded several sambo clubs in different countries: Vlad Kulikov and Vitaliy Zaslavskiy founded their clubs in USA, Igor Kurennoy - club "Borec" in Russia.

International Sambo Tournament "Young Samboist" among children sambo clubs, devoted to the 100th year birthday anniversary of Anatoliy A. Harlampiev, was held in Moscow in Ivan Yarygin Wresling Palace on September 22-23. Sixteen best children sambo clubs' teams from different countries participated in the competition. "Club Sambo-330" from Sankt-Peterburg (Russia) won the Tournament.

On July 28-29 FIAS President David Rudman attended 3rd International Open Sambo Cup "ALBERT ASTAKHOV" held in Maracay (Venezuela).
300 sporstmen from different parts of Venezuela took part in this Competition.
Albert Astakhov and FIAS Founder and First President Fernando Compte were the guests of honor at the Cup.
On July 29 in the framework of the 3rd International Open Sambo Cup, David Rudman conducted Seminar for coaches, referees and participants of the competition.

On June 18 FIAS President David Rudman met one of the eldest members of MOC Vitaliy Smirnov. The meeting was carried out in a friendly climate.
In the course of the meeting the parties exchanged their views on international sport and olympic movements' problems.
Problems of international Sambo development and possibility of recognition of Sambo by MOC were discussed.
Mr. Smirnov expressed his high appreciation of International Sambo Federation work, and supported proposed cooperation between FIAS and international Olympic movement.
V. Smirnov also stated his willingness to give all possible support to FIAS in solving problems of international sport cooperation and interaction with MOC and other organizations that are guiding international sport movement.
V. Smirnov and D. Rudman expressed satisfaction over the results of the meeting.

On May 30th FIAS President David Rudman met FIAS First President and Founder Mr. Fernando Compte in Madrid (Spain).
The meeting was carried out in a friendly climate. The problems of international sambo development and leadership were discussed.
Mr. Fernando Compte assured President Rudman that he recognizes FIAS and its legitimate president Mr. D.Rudman to be the only organization with exclusive rights to govern sambo in the world.
Mr. Compte expressed desire to cooperate with FIAS across the whole spectrum of international sambo development problems. The possible aspects of sambo development in Spain were discussed.
In his turn Mr. Rudman invited Mr. Compte to visit World Sambo Junior Championship 2006 in Moscow and World Sambo Championship 2006 in Bulgaria. The invitations were gladly accepted.
