New perspectives of SAMBO

Yesterday, 15 July, Sochi hosted the Open Championship of Europe on free-fight fights . The organizers of these events are the Russian Club on classic combat sports "SAMBO-70", the Foundation of Sport support and development "Champion" and the Ministry of Sport. Tourism and youth Policy of the Russian Federation.

The Championship was attended by the well-known prominent honorable guests: the Russian Federation Government Chairman - Vladimir PUTIN, the Minister of Sport, Tourism and youth Policy - Vitaly MUTKO, a famous American actor and athlete - Jean Claude Vann Damn and famous Russian sambist, FIAS Ambassador to the 1st SportAccord Combat Games "Beijing-2010"- Feodor EMELIANENKO.

The European Team was represented by the strongest athletes of "Mixfight".

The honorable guests took part in the solemn awarding ceremony of the winners from "SAMBO-70" Russian Club, who defeated the European Team with the score 4:1.

Vladimir PUTIN praised the performance of all participants, and he specially stressed that " The nations of our country have many kinds of combat sports. But in the modern history all our combat sports sprang from SAMBO. I believe that the time has come for SAMBO to become an Olympic Sport…"

Such attention to SAMBO sport paid by V.PUTIN (master of Sport on SAMBO, who commenced his sports career on the Sambo mat) is the eveidence of strong willingness of Russian Federation Prime-Minister to support SAMBO development at international level, that is particularly precious to Federation Internationale Amateur de Sambo and all SAMBO Family worldwide.
